The 1920s marked a period of transformation for Leewood Golf Club. Originally established in 1921, it began as a modest golf course surrounded by natural beauty. As the decade progressed, Leewood started gaining recognition for its challenging course and scenic views, attracting golf enthusiasts from the region.


During the 1930s, Leewood Golf Club continued to evolve. The course layout was refined to provide a more demanding and enjoyable golfing experience. The club's reputation as a premier golf destination grew, drawing players seeking both skillful play and a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle.


Amid the challenges of World War II, Leewood Golf Club remained a respite for its members. The war years saw reduced activity at the club, but it persevered as a gathering place for community members, providing a sense of normalcy during uncertain times.


The 1950s brought a renewed sense of optimism and growth to Leewood Golf Club. Post-war prosperity led to improvements in the clubhouse and facilities. Leewood became known not only for its golf but also for its social events, creating a vibrant and close-knit community.


The 1960s were marked by both controversy and resilience for Leewood Golf Club. It found itself in the midst of a political battle as local Democrats and Republicans debated its fate. In the 1970s, Leewood faced adversity with a fire that destroyed the caddy house and the unfortunate passing of an employee. However, the club's spirit endured, and it continued to offer a place of recreation and camaraderie for its members.


The 1980s witnessed a period of rejuvenation at Leewood Golf Club. Major renovations and the addition of The Terrace Room revitalized the clubhouse. These enhancements not only elevated the club's facilities but also its reputation as a premier dining and event venue.


The 1990s brought financial challenges as Leewood grappled with rising real estate taxes. However, the club's proactive approach, including legal action to reduce taxes, ensured its long-term financial stability. Members demonstrated resilience and determination during this period.


The 2000s saw Leewood embark on a series of significant projects, including rebuilding the men's locker room and renovating the Men's Grill. Despite economic setbacks caused by the recession, Leewood's members rallied together to support the club through challenging times.


The 2010s marked a new era of renovations at Leewood. Major improvements to the golf course and clubhouse facilities were undertaken, enhancing the overall golfing experience. The club adapted to changing times while preserving its rich traditions, ensuring its continued success.


The 2020s began with an unprecedented challenge as the COVID-19 pandemic forced temporary closures and safety measures. Leewood Golf Club navigated these uncharted waters, balancing financial needs with member safety. Despite the pandemic, golf thrived as an outdoor activity, sustaining the club's sense of community and resilience, and in 2022 the club celebrated it's Centennial Year with a series of celebratory events for it's members and community alike.
